Severed Gas Line Leads to Haymarket, VA, House Explosion

Prince William County firefighters and residents escaped injury in the blast that was felt over a wide area.

Repairs to a water main break in Haymarket ended with a severed gas line and a house explosion.

Washington Gas and the Prince William County Fire Department were notified, WJLA reported. 

"We had a contractor come out today to repair a water main break in between the meter and the house, itself, something normal that happens all the time.Ten minutes after that, the house was on fire," explained Jarret Struniak, a resident. 

Everyone was far enough away that no one was hurt.
